Online Reservations
All requested information must be submitted when placing your booking on our secured site. When our company receives your on-line reservation, you will receive your confirmation of booking by return via e-mail. So please ensure that you submit your correct e-mail address. If by any chance, that your confirmation of booking is not sent back to you, then please contact us on our free phone number.
Credit Card Payments
Please note that at certain times charging for your hire vehicle may be carried out by a third party, you may see 2 charges but totalling the correct amount, all card details will be sent via our secure website and your statement may not always read "National Van Rental"
Deposits
In all instances there will be a deposit taken in regard to your hire vehicle. Also most instances when the vehicle is leaving the UK, or any specialist vehicles that are requested e.g. not on the main fleet a deposit will be taken, you will be informed of this before your booking commences. This will be re credited to your card once the vehicle is returned or collected without any new damage and the equipment is in full working order.
A deposit will be held of £250 on all commercial vans and £500 for specialist vans eg 3.5 luton, 7.5 ton trucks and mini buses.
Driver Identification
All drivers including any additional drivers must show their original driving licence and if a counterpart licence is held, then both parts must be shown. plus 2 further forms of identification including one that confirms the driver's current address.
Where a 7.5 ton truck is hired, the driver must have a valid UK operator's licence valid for use in the UK and outside the UK if applicable.

NB: Please make sure you quote your reservation number when sending your ID
Qualification
Drivers must be between 21 and 70 years of age for vans and cars, and between 25 and 70 years of age for Trucks and People carriers. Mini Buses require D1. Drivers must also also have held a full driving licence for at least a 2-year period.
Insurance
All rental Vehicles are supplied with comprehensive insurance and £1,200 insurance excess which can only be reduced to £600 (all insurance excesses are inclusive of vat.)
The insurance excess charge becomes payable by the hirer in the event of any damage being incurred during the rental period. In the event of damage to the rental vehicle the excess will be charged to the credit or debit card given when making the reservation.
The hirer can purchase collision damage waver insurance at a cost of £19.00 for Vans, Trucks, People Carriers and Mini Buses which reduces the excess down to £600.00 Please note that goods in transit are not covered by the insurance supplied along with any goods that are in the vehicle at any time. Exclusions to collision damage waver are any overhead height damage to any of our vehicles, tyre damage or punctures, and Glass damage cost’s also driving without due care and attention, negligence and dangerous driving in any of our vehicles. All costs incurred by us will be passed onto the customer and charged directly to the credit or debit card that was used when the booking was placed.
If you are a young driver we can supplier a van to you at an extra cost of £10 per day, you can action this by selecting the young driver charge on the home page. Because you are a young driver you deemed to be a higher risk and cannot select the collision damage waiver to reduce your excess, you would be liable for the full excess charge of £1200
Delivery and Collection
Free delivery and collection applies to all bookings.
We accept no liability or loss suffered by the Customer (however so arising) for late delivery. We will endeavour to assist the customer wherever possible however will not be liable past the rental costs.
One Way Rentals
When a one way rental is required a charge will be added to the cost of rental. The price quoted on line includes our one way fee.
Please not that our 7.5 Truck one way bookings are subject to a variable one way charge depending on distance.
We are able to offer one way rentals starting or ending Belfast. The additional cost will be £850.00. This only applies for one way hires to and from Belfast.
Any customers taking their vehicle one way (to a different collection address) without pre-arranging this before the rental commences will be liable for any additional days hire whilst collection is organised and a £600.00 one way charge as well as any fuel used to retrieve this vehicle to its original collection destination.
Vehicle Fuel
Please be advised that it is the customer's responsibility to ensure that the fuel that has been used is replaced. So, if the vehicle arrives with an empty, half full, or full tank you will be requested to replace the vehicle fuel level to the same as when it was delivered, Failure to do so will incur charges to your credit card at £1.95 + VAT per litre. If you put extra fuel in the van A1 is not responsible for the difference in fuel. Please be advised if your hire vehicle is not delivered full please inform us straight away on 0844 809 9171 or email and also keep your delivery paperwork showing the fuel level, please keep any receipts for fuel for 7-14 Days.
Cancellation Policy
Cancellation of a booking will incur a 20% charge from the total cost of the booking value.
A1 National Car and Van rental reserve the right to cancel confirmed and unconfirmed reservations 24 hours prior to rental commencement.
Air Conditioning in Minibuses
Not all minibuses have air conditioning. Please state your request in additional information when booking if air conditioning is required. If we are not advised please be aware some minibuses could be delivered without air conditioning.
Accidents and Damage to Vehicles
It is the hirer's responsibility to notify our office immediately of any accidents or damage to the vehicle that is on hire and all third party details must be provided as soon as possible. In the event of the hired vehicle requiring bodywork repairs, then the hirer will forfeit the insurance excess that applies. Any overhead height damage will be charged in full + loss of rental use whilst vehicle is off road. Overhead height damage is not covered by insurance. Please note that any Heavy goods vehicles supplied i.e 7.5 Tonne Trucks are not supplied with a spare tyre or Jacks. The reason for this is that it is not possible for for this type of vehicle to have a tyre changed by an untrained person and the vehicle has to be Jacked up by specialised lifting gear. So, if a vehicle of this type is on hire to any of our customers and a puncture occurs, then, it will be the customers responsibility to locate a professional tyre replacement company and pay the cost required to replace the damaged tyre. This even applies if a puncture occurs overseas. A1 National Car and Van rentals will not pay any incurred costs relating to this situation.
NB: Failure to pay the excess withing 7 days will result in the hirer becoming liable for all damage costs along with any other charges (e.g. loss of use).

London Congestion Charges, Parking and Speeding Fines
It is the hirer's responsibility, to pay all London congestion charges, parking and speeding fines. If our company receive notification of an unpaid fine, then we will charge the amount of the fine to the hirer along with any appropriate administration charges.
The hirer is liable for any parking tickets up to 8 working hours after the rental expires.
LOSS OF VEHICLE KEYS
In the event of the rental vehicle's keys being mislaid, lost, or stolen, then our company will charge for the courier charges to deliver the spare keys plus the total cost to replace the missing keys and reprogramming of central locking key fob if required.
In the event of loss or theft of a vehicle you will be liable to pay £5000.00 if the vehicle is not recovered or traceable. This cost is to cover any shortfall that the insurance does not cover.
Vehicle Type
All Vehicle types shown on our web page are for example purposes only.
The vehicles that are delivered could differ from time to time to the examples shown on our web page.
We never guarantee make or model.
Early Returns
Please note that we will not issue any refunds should you return the rental vehicle supplied before the pre arranged termination time and date.
Rental Vehicles Supplied Travelling to other EEC Countries
We allow our rental vehicles to be taken abroad to EEC members and European insurance cover is supplied. All vehicles are covered by AA/RAC roadside assistance and recovery service. Under no circumstances will we allow any of our rental vehicles be taken abroad without our prior consent. All customers will be required to leave a deposit before the vehicle leaves
Any vehicle taken overseas without prior arrangement and consent will incur a charge of £1000 (excluding VAT).
Complaints Procedure
Our company is confident, that the service we offer to all of our customers will be of the highest standard and that your rental vehicle supplied will be very satisfactory. However, should you wish to lodge a complaint, then this must be submitted via email at info@a1nationalvanhire.co.uk or by post. On receipt of your e-mailed complaint or letter we will then investigate and respond within 28 working days.
Uses without permission
If any vehicle is taken one way or out of the UK without prior arraignment all charges that are incurred to repatriate the vehicle to the original destination will be charged to the customer and the card which was used at the time of booking will be charged.
Declaration
In hiring a vehicle, you agree to the following conditions:
I will pay the waiver shown in the charges schedule to reduce the damage/theft for which I am liable to £500 for each and every occurrence.
I hereby acknowledge that during the currency of this agreement, for the purposes of section 66 of the Road traffic Offenders Act 1983 and the Road Traffic Act 1991, and the Schedule 1 to the Road Traffic (Owner Liability)(Scotland) Regulations 1975 (all as amended or replaced by any subsequent legislation or orders), I shall be liable as owner of the vehicle in respect of any of the offences and any excess charge or Penalty Charge referred to in any such legislation or oders in accordance with the conditions attached. I acknowledge that my liability shall extend to any other vehicle hired under the same agreement and to any period by which the original period of hire may be extended, I hereby agree to hire the above vehicle, on the terms and conditions set out herein, attached (a copy of which can be inspected at our office) and the insurance policy.
I authorise the Lessor to obtain payment of the Total Charge, calculated in accordance with the tariff rates agreed in this document, and any other sums due or which become due to the lessor, by debiting the card no given or the account referred to above.
